Singapore: Katong

I took bus 16 from Orchard Rd to Joo Chiat Rd expecting to see beautiful Peranakan shophouses. Many of the shophouses have turned into nightclub, fortunately I arrived there in the afternoon. The photogenic row of shophouses is available only at Koon Seng Rd.
I wanted to eat the famous popiah Kway Guan Huat (95 Joo Chiat Rd), but it is closed.
I did not see any Katong laksa.
Then, I took bus 30 to Vivocity and enjoyed the scenery from double decker bus over the new casino, F1 tracks, and CBD.

Merchant Court and Min Jiang

Please do not be envious of me, I am just a bit lucky.

I had fine dining two nights in a row.
The first night was at Merchant Court with my partner. We enjoyed XO-sauce prawn, cold-dish, shark-fin soup, etc. Though we did not have durian penyet at that moment, we love Merchant Court durian penyet very much.

The second night was at Min Jiang, Rochester. We had roasted duck skin, scallop, cereal prawn with crispy milk, etc. I had a unique desert of coconut with ice cream, mango, sago, pomelo inside.
I love the music and the romantic atmosphere there, the trade off of dim light is that I could not take photos of the food.

Rating for Merchant Court is 6 out of 10.
Rating for Min Jiang is 8 out of 10.

Barcelos Flame Grilled Chicken

Barcelos legendary Peri Peri Chicken is marinated the traditional Portuguese way,
100% flame grilled and seasoned to perfection.

I had savoured Nandos before and the rooster logo of Barcelos reminded me on that. I also bought a small magnet statue of the black rooster with colorful decorations in Portugal - it was a gift for my Mum.

The idealisation of the Barcelos rooster (actually any kind of Portuguese black rooster) derives from a legend concerning a Gallego who was sentenced to hang, despite his protests of innocence. In a last minute appeal to the judge, who was enjoying dinner at the time, the condemned man made a bold statement: If this claim of innocence was true, the roasted rooster on the judge's plate would get up and crow. Suddenly, a gorgeous scarlet-plumed cockerel rose from the plate, crowing loud and long.

At Barcelo, we had pine and cheese burger. I like the pineapple, quite refreshing taste.
Pro: nice jazz music, magazines are provided (for example www.teenage.com.sg)
Con: expensive for that quality of food.

Our rating 5.5 out of 10.

I am happy to encounter teen magazines again as I love to read them (with varying preferences for different teen magazines), the models are cute and they provide useful make-up and relationship tips.

We live happy lives as teenagers do, we are so grateful to you Lord.

Shichida

Could this be your child?
Artistic ability
Superior IQ
photographic memory
multiple languages
outstanding personality
musical talent
sharp imagination
perfect intuition

Observation of Shichida-trained children (aged 5) at other pre-schools
* Memory retention is stronger
* Recognise and recapitulate pictures and words from flash cards effortlessly
* Consistently perform well in spelling
* Display keen interest in learning
* Sharp listening skills- able to follow instructions well
* Work well independently. Hardly needs any supervision
* Can converse and recall details clearly
* Can grasp mathematical concepts quickly

What are their methods? Will anyone be willing to share, without me making big holes in my pocket?

“The purpose of education in the future will not be to create people with heads crammed full of knowledge, but to rear children who know how to efficiently use the whole brain. Rearing children with enormous ability, rich creativity, and the capability to make use of high proportion of their brain should be the goal of child rearing."Professor Makoto Shichida

Honestly, I have never attended such kind of training in my babyhood and toddlerhood. Perhaps, if I attended a kind of it, I will be a smarter and more talented individual. Well, I decided long time ago not to do too much of "what if", but to live at the present moment, enjoy my life, keep on enriching myself, and have faith in God. God will give the best for us, of course we must be hardworking and resourceful. Don't wait for our parents and teachers to help us, the only person you can ask for responsibility is yourself.

If you are interested to learn more, please visit www.shichidamethod.com
I copied some from their website.

Can older children benefit?Though we recognize that the best period to work with children is when they are below six, we have seen some pretty remarkable results with older children as well.

Can we adults benefit, too? When adults use the same techniques in their own lives, they get flashes of inspiration to guide them at work and in everyday situations. They make accurate, lightning decisions on their feet anywhere, anytime.

My child is only an infant. How can he/she benefit? An infant has incredible learning abilities. Even though an infant may not be able to display his/her learning abilities or potential, the cells in the brain are connecting fast for future brain usage. An infant should be given appropriate brain stimulation to bring out the innate human abilities such as: photographic memory, creativity, perfect pitch in music, multi-languages for language mastery and lightning rapid calculation abilities.
I think I am not too bad, even if I did not attend such kind of training. My only problem is that I am tone-deaf, but I still survive in the society until today, though I could not make my partner, who likes the other half who plays musical instruments, happier

SECRET 1:Teach fast / Let the kids respond fast. "I had attended 1 lesson with my niece and oh boy am I impressed by my niece, she can rem the images, numbers etc and the teacher really teaches VERY VERY fast. they do flashcards, numbers, memory, etc etc. I was trying SO hard to rem the image and the numbers, but ahaha,,,cannot leh..."I remember when I was in primary school, I always love Mum to ask me question to prepare for tests, but she was so busy and she did it quick, so perhaps it helped to train me to be an exam warrior.

SECRET 2: Study the progress of your children. They will give parents a book to record progress etc made by the kids. Parents are supposed to study the kids and their progress, it sounds to me like observing experiment results. Then after getting a result, you think of some ways to improve more and better.

MacRitchie Reservoir

My partner and I went to MacRitchie Reservoir yesterday. We enjoyed our time there, except the heat. It was very hot!

We like
(1) the trail next to the reservoir water.
(2) tree-top walk.

The reservoir water is green in color due to the chlorophyll of water plant. It reminded us on a national park in Europe, but we did not sweat there.

When you go there, don't forget to apply sun block and wear a hat.

Paradise Inn, Singapore

We had a dinner at Paradise Inn in 313@Somerset.
Paradise Inn is belonged to Paradise Group, whose boss is Eldwin Chua - a successful young.

Pro:
the soup were kept warm.

Con:
very long wait for the food and the bill to arrive.
dirty chopsticks!

We ordered:
Wasabi mayonaise prawn (This is unique)
Yellow melon soup
Black chicken soup (I like this)
Fish head
Sambal kangkung
Tofu with floss

I prefer Soup Restaurant and found that Soup Restaurant is cheaper.

About Eldwin and Edlan Chua, the owners:
Founder of the Paradise Group, 30-year-old Eldwin Chua, can be said to have literally built his empire with his own two hands. From a zi char stall in an industrial estate, which gradually grew into a 550-seat seafood dining destination and a contemporary restaurant serving Chinese cuisine with a difference, to a 30,000 sq ft flagship restaurant in Singapore’s latest headline-grabbing icon, the Singapore Flyer, Eldwin has built up a three-restaurant group in less than a decade.

Since his early teens, Eldwin has inculcated a strong work ethic. It was working part-time in seafood restaurants in his late teens that resulted in his passion for the culinary side and for seafood in particular. While he did decide to take his first entrepreneurial step at the tender age of 22 years, it was not without the required amount of passion and ingenuity.

From the first, it was clear that Eldwin needed a strong philosophy and foundation to ensure that his food stands out so diners will be attracted to his inaccessible location. Despite the humble surroundings, Eldwin believes in providing brilliant homemade dishes based on quality ingredients and this has continued to be the linchpin of the Paradise Group business.

Many of Eldwin’s original dishes have proved such stellar bestsellers that they have formed the backbone of ongoing menus. The crab in superior stock with vermicelli served at Seafood Paradise at Defu Lane continues to be well received. Eldwin has also put his own spin on the Singapore iconic chilli crab by using sambal with the egg-based gravy flavoured by dried shrimp rather than ketchup and vinegar. In addition to the seafood stars on the menu, the honey-pepper pork ribs are stalwarts, having been there since the beginning and the deep-fried homemade beancurd with dark gravy with sea cucumber served in a mini wok over a warmer is also a stayer.

Shanghai Restoration Project

Eyeshadow primer

I love to spend my Saturday morning researching on how to beautify women after many technical weekdays. An enlightenment in beauty is hopeful and happy.

Eyeshadow primer is used:
1. to eliminate creases being noticed obviously.
2. make eyeshadow last longer.

Some example of eyeshadow primer (honestly, I have not had fund to use them yet):
Clinique touchbase.
MK Signature Eye Primer.

HOW TO SAVE $?
To ensure that you don't get creases:
apply a bit of foundation to your eyelid AND put powder on it. This will give you a smooth base to apply your eyeshadow or liner and you won't get creases.
If you use just foundation, without the powder, the foundation will settle into the creases and make them more noticeable. The trick is to set the foundation with powder and THEN use eyeshadow.

"Apply a little liquid foundation to eyelids with your fingertips before putting on eye shadow. I tried this with MAC Studio Fix Foundation and my shadow stayed perfect until I washed my face. No fading, no creasing – just flawless eye shadow all day long." From: http://thebeautybunny.com/makeup-tips-skip-eye-shadow-primer/

Dinner of 99 cents sushi at Shin Tokyo Sushi

Branches:
Yew Tee Point (we had our dinner here!)
Clementi City Vibe
Century Square (Tampines)

Nothing is particularly tasty, but all of the 99 cents sushi we tried can make it.
I quite like it for the price and it tasted better than Sakae Sushi.

How to earn passive income in Singapore

Lunar New Year is coming and we have to buy new clothes and gifts for our family, our friends, and ourselves. No money, no honey. Let us brainstorm on ideas to earn passive income in Singapore. Herein, I share with my Dear readers. "Good things are to be shared," Blueroselady

In a nutshell:
# Invest in real estates
# Do internet marketing
# Invent patentable products
# Be an insurance agent
# Write and earn royalties
# Read emails sent by EmailCashPro, buz.to

In details:
# Reading emails of EmailCashPro
http://www.emailcashpro.com

Step 1: Sign up as a member for FREE
Join EmailCashPro as a member for free, select ads categories of email you are interested to receive.
Blueroselady's warning: Please be aware that the registration webpage is very annoying. If you have missing information, or your chosen username has been taken up, you will lose the previously filled up information. Usernames may only contain letters and numbers.
They SHOULD make their registration website more user-friendly!

Step 2: Read emails that you are interested
Receive Paid Emails that match your profile and interest. These emails will have subject headlines that start with **Target [Interest]**, followed by a description of the content of the Paid Email. Browse through the subject description. Once you click on the Paid Link and visit the advertiser's website for 30 seconds, your account will be credited with 1 point. Your accumulated points will then be converted into cash credits on the first week of every month. The conversion is done based on 40% of our total earnings for the previous month. This means we share 40% of our total revenue with our members! Our conversion for the last few months ranges from 0.55 cents to 0.75 cents.

Step 3: Share good stuff with your friends
The most powerful part of EmailCashPro is our 4 level referral system. When you refer other people to join EmailCashPro, you will receive 50% of your referral's earnings on level 1, 20% of your referral's earnings on level 2, 15% of your referral's earnings on level 3 and 10% of your referral's earnings on level 4. Never underestimate the power of cents. With our 4 level referral system, your income can easily be in the order of $100s a month!
Comment by BlueRoseLady: TheSundayTimes April 22 2007 reported on Henry Soh who had recruited 200 members and clicked on ads since July 2006, earned S$203. It is a very modest income, but a dollar still worth a dollar. I am sorry, that's my frugal lifestyle.

Step 4: Receive cheque in your letter box
Once your account reaches our minimum payout of S$11, you can request for a cash-out from us. For Singapore members, you can cash out your earning through cheque or paypal. For International members, you can cash out through paypal. All payment will be made in Singapore dollars.
